Iowa State Defeats Carthage, 78-49

AMES, Iowa – The No. 23/20 Iowa State women’s basketball team defeated the Carthage Lady Reds by a score of 78-49 for their 30th-consecutive exhibition game win. Senior forward Hallie Christofferson led the Cyclones with 17 points and sophomore Maddy Baier led the Iowa State off the glass with eight boards.

Turning Point of the Game
The Cyclones started off slow, with the Lady Reds taking control early. The Lady Reds’ largest lead was five with 9:47 left in the first. Iowa State would then go on a 25-2 run to close the half with a 39-21 lead. The Iowa State defense took control recording six steals, three blocks and forcing 10 first-half Lady Red turnovers.

Game Ball Goes To...
Maddy Baier. Baier came up big for the Cyclones going 3-of-8 from the field for 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Baier played 14 important minutes for Iowa State, going 4-of-4 at the charity stripe and picking up an assist and a steal in the Cyclone victory.
