FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 24 Iowa State volleyball team had to survive a wild comeback against TCU Saturday at the TCU University Recreation Center, but the Cyclones were able to hang on 3-2 (25-23, 25-16, 22-25, 25-27, 15-12). The win improved Iowa State to 18-7 overall and 11-3 in the Big 12. TCU falls to 15-14 overall and 3-11 in the Big 12.

Turning Point of the Match
After controlling the first two sets, Iowa State saw the TCU squad fight back to take the next two sets and force a decisive fifth set. With the fifth tied 5-5, the Cyclones saw an unexpected hero emerge and take over the match. Morgan Kuhrt propelled a 5-0 run with a kill and two service aces to put the match out of reach. TCU made a fight back, but at match point it was Kuhrt who had the final kill to end the match in ISU’s favor.

Morgan Kuhrt. With Ciara Capezio’s attack radar off the mark, Christy Johnson-Lynch called on the redshirt freshman to make one of her strong cameos. She did just that. Kuhrt finished the match with a career-high 15 kills at a .364 hitting percentage while adding in a career-high three aces, six digs, a solo block and a block assist.

Honorable mention to Mackenzie Bigbee and Victoria Hurtt, who each had 16 kills to power the Iowa State offense.
