Torre Becton was named assistant strength and conditioning coach for the ISU football program in January 2007. Prior to joining head coach Gene Chizik’s staff at Iowa State, Becton assisted with the implementation of speed, strength, agility and conditioning programs in Baylor’s speed, strength and explosive training department over four seasons. He also helped coordinate strength and conditioning programs for other varsity sports and educated Baylor student-athletes on nutrition strategies.


At Baylor, Becton worked with 2004 Olympic 400-meter gold medalist Jeremy Wariner and with Darold Williamson, who joined Wariner on the winning Olympic 4x400-meter relay in Athens. Both are Drake Relays champions. During his Baylor tenure Becton coached strength and conditioning for the Baylor men’s tennis team that made the NCAA Final Four every year he was in Waco. The Bear tennis team won the NCAA championship in 2004. Becton also worked with Baylor’s football, track and volleyball squads.


As a graduate assistant at Oklahoma State, Becton worked with the football and track teams.


Becton is certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), the National Association of Speed and Explosion and the Black Coaches and Administrators (BCA). He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.


Becton is a 2000 graduate of North Carolina A&T State (health and physical education and fitness management), where he was a four-year letterman in football.
