Justus Thigpen's running three-pointer as time expired gave ISU the win over Colorado, just seconds after he had missed the front end of a one-and-one at the foul line that would have tied the game. The win snapped the Cyclones' 14-game Big Eight road losing skid. Thigpen's shot gave him five treys in the game, tying him with five other players for the school single-game record at the time.

Thigpen finished with 19 points to lead ISU as Loren Meyer added 13 and Howard Eaton added 10 for the Cyclones, who tied Kansas State, Nebraska and Oklahoma for third in the conference history
