High School: Earned first-team all-state honors in Class 1-A from the Iowa Newspaper Association at linebacker and was a second-team all-state choice by The Des Moines Register ... team went 13-0 en route to the Iowa Class 1-A championships his senior season ... all-district choice as a sophomore and as a junior ... lettered three times in football for head coach Randy Tjaden ... three-year starter at fullback and linebacker ... also lettered four times in wrestling and track and twice in baseball.
