AMES, Iowa – In a see-saw game that needed an extra five
minutes to decide, Iowa State made key defensive stands in the last 2:53 of the
contest to beat Texas 73-65 in overtime,
including a 7-0 run in the game’s final 1:14. Anna Prins led Iowa State (10-1 overall, 1-0
Big 12) with 17 points in just 23 minutes of play. Cyclone Chelsea Poppens,
like Prins struggling with foul trouble, had 16 points in 29 minutes. Texas
(7-5 overall, 0-1 Big 12), led 53-47 with 3:52 left in the game before the
Nikki Moody’s pull up jumper in the lane put the Cyclones

free throws by Roberts and Fussell’s
three forced overtime.
