AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State soccer team announced its 2013 schedule Monday. The Cyclones will kick off the regular season Aug. 23 with a visit to South Dakota State.
ISU will play host to seven home matches at the recently constructed Cyclone Sports Complex, with four being Big 12 Conference tilts.
The Cyclones face a stern early season test when they travel to California to play at Santa Clara (Sept. 12) and Stanford (Sept. 15). Stanford finished the 2012 season ranked No. 3 nationally and Santa Clara was No. 18.
Iowa State will hit the road for all three of its in-state matches this upcoming fall. The first match against an in-state foe will be in Iowa City for the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series match against Iowa on Sept. 6. The Cyclones will pay visits to Northern Iowa (Sept. 20) and Drake (Oct. 6) as well.
This year’s Big 12 Championship moves to Kansas City, Mo., for the first time in league history from Nov. 6-10. The league championship will be staged at Sporting Park, home of Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Sporting Kansas City. The facility opened in 2011 and cost approximately $200 million.
