AMES, Iowa – Iowa State swimming and diving head coach Duane Sorenson announced the Cyclones 2013-14 schedule Monday. The slate features four home meets, with the annual Intra Squad meet taking place in Ames on Oct. 4, at 6 p.m.
The Cyclones begin their regular season on the road Oct. 12 against rival Nebraska. The squad is on the road for the next three meets before returning home on Nov. 8, to take on TCU at 5 p.m.
“We’re excited about this season’s meet schedule, both in our dual and championship style meets,” Sorenson said. “We start off our dual meets with a traditional rival, Nebraska, and end up our dual meet season with always tough Kansas.”
The greatly anticipated Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series takes place on Dec. 13 in Ames at 6 p.m.
For the first time in school history, the Cyclones will compete against TCU and West Virginia in a dual meet format.
“It will be fun going against TCU and West Virginia in the dual meet format for the first time. We had a great Big 12 Championship meet against both schools last school year and it will be interesting to see how our dual meets turn out. Add in another two Big 10 schools, Iowa and Illinois, and we have a challenging, competitive and exciting schedule,” Sorenson said.
The final two home meets of the season are against Illinois on Jan. 17 and Kansas on Feb. 7-8. The Kansas meet will also serve as Senior Day.
The Cyclones will kick off the post season with the Big 12 Conference Men’s & Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship in Austin, Texas, Feb. 26- March 1.
