AMES, Iowa- Led by a goal in the 8th minute senior Jessica Reyes, the Iowa State soccer team defeated the Oklahoma State Cowgirls 1-0 on senior night Friday at the Cyclone Sports Complex. With the win, Iowa State earned the No. 4 seed in the Big 12 tournament and will play the fifth-seeded Baylor Bears. The Cyclones improved their conference record to 3-4-1 with the victory.
Turning point of the game
In the eighth minute of the game, Reyes received a pass from fellow senior Emily Goldstein and floated a shot over the Cowgirls goalie, hitting the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the net. Reyes displayed nifty footwork to navigate herself through the Oklahoma State defense to find an open look at the goal. The score proved to be the decisive factor in the game as the teams played through the cold rainy game unable to score any more goals.
