MILWAUKEE, Wis.- The Iowa State tennis team (3-1) will head to Milwaukee this Friday and Saturday to take on Marquette and UW-Milwaukee in duals.
The Cyclones have dominated their last three matches, beating Southeast Missouri State, Omaha, and North Dakota in Ames.
Head coach Armando Espinosa is excited about the prospect of Friday’s match.
“I think we’re playing pretty well,” Espinosa said, “Marquette is an opponent that we’ve played through the years and it’s always been a very competitive match. I think doubles is going to be a crucial point and if we can come ahead after that it will give us a great chance to come up with a victory.”
Ana Gasparovic remains undefeated at No. 4 singles, coming out on top over each of her opponents.
“I’m very excited,” Espinosa said, “She’s getting more comfortable doing the things that we’re asking her to do.”
The Cyclones will play at 4 p.m. Friday against Marquette, before a quick turnaround for Saturday’s 12:30 p.m. match against Milwaukee.
“It’s going to be a good weekend for us,” Espinosa said, “To come back from Marquette which could be a very competitive match to get up the next morning and play UW-M, it could be challenging.”
