Armory Collegiate Invitational
The Iowa State women’s distance medley relay team gained national attention this evening, placing second at the Armory Collegiate Invitational. The squad finished the race in 11:11.93 and set a new program record in the process, breaking the previous mark set last season (11:15.65).

Perez Rotich kicked things off in the 1200-meter leg, battling back and forth with athletes from Arkansas, Alabama and Villanova. Iowa State was in fourth place at the first exchange, behind the aforementioned teams.

Ese Okoro brought the Cyclones back into contention after a very strong 400-meter leg. Ese torched the track, passing both Villanova and Alabama before handing off to her twin sister Ejiro for the 800m. The 2013 All-American kept pace with Arkansas and made up ground as the competitors entered the final leg of the race.

Cyclone freshman Bethanie Brown anchored the medley with the mile. Brown, 2013 cross country All-American, hung tough in her section of the relay and held position with a second place finish.

The 11 minute, 11.93 second performance is currently good for the ninth fastest time in the nation this season.
