What is the Clone Zone?
The Clone Zone is the premium content and internet video streaming center for Iowa State sports. A variety of live and archived video features will be available for a monthly ($8.95), or an annual fee ($79.95). The content will include post-practice interviews (football and basketball), game highlights, live coverage of some events, live coverage of various away contests at other JumpTV-partnered schools, media conferences (weekly and post-game), coaches’ TV shows and various other exclusive offerings.
Can I Watch Any Away Games on the Clone Zone?
Some events (wrestling, gymnastics and possibly some basketball) may be made available from other JumpTV schools in the conference. The agreement with JumpTV allows all schools to share video board feeds with each other. That means a wrestling match at Nebraska, for example, can be live streamed on the Clone Zone.
Are Football and Men's Basketball Games Streamed Live?
The contracts between the Big 12 and its TV partners prohibit the vast majority of live streaming opportunities for Cyclone football. On a rare occasion, an exception may be granted. The Clone Zone premium content section will, however, include a one-hour recap of every Cyclone football game. Those shows will be uploaded on Mondays following the game. Many non-conference games in men's basketball can be streamed live, however conference games cannot be streamed until at least 24 hours after the game’s completion. Iowa State hopes to “replay” via its scoreboard feed a number of men’s basketball games while adhering to the league’s regulations.
Please refer to the Clone Zone webcast schedule for up-to-date changes in live events. Events will be added as times and dates are solidified.
Is Audio (Play-by-Play Game Coverage of Football and Men's Basketball Included in the Clone Zone?
Iowa State is currently in contract with Yahoo! to provide internet audio of Cyclone football and basketball. There is a fee for this service of $4.95 a month. However, any live Clone Zone webcast in football, men's basketball or women's basketball will be supplemented by the Cyclone Radio Network audio feed as part of the Clone Zone package.
Why is There a Charge For the Clone Zone?
The resources and staff required to operate a dependable and interesting premium content program has a cost. To continue to make this service available and enhance the offerings in the future will take a financial investment and charging a monthly or annual fee to deliver this content is something we believe Cyclone fans will appreciate and come to demand.
