AMES, Iowa ? Junior Brittany Lange will serve as a student coach for the Iowa State women's basketball team over the next two seasons. She will make the transition from student-athlete to coach, as she assists the staff during practices and games.
Lange saw action in 10 games during the 2007-08 campaign, scoring three points and snagging four rebounds. The Sac City, Iowa, native, played her initial collegiate season at Creighton before transferring to Iowa State.
Lange has suffered nagging injuries throughout her career. She and ISU head coach Bill Fennelly decided that this is the best way for her to serve the team since she would like to pursue a career in coaching.
“I'm really excited about this opportunity to remain with the team and contribute in any way that I can,” Lange said. “I knew that I wasn't going to be able to help the team physically because of my injuries, but I appreciate the chance that coach Fennelly has given me to be a part of the team in another way.”
