TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The No. 16 Iowa State women's cross country team closed out the 2016 season with a 29th-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Sophomore Anne Frisbie led the way at LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course, finishing 77th while clocking a time of 20:43.6.
Frisbie, who took fourth at the Big 12 Championship as ISU's lead runner en route to a team title, was the top Cyclone runner throughout nearly the entire race. The meet brings to an end what has been a breakout season for the sophomore, who established herself as one of Iowa State's most consistent performers. Junior Bethanie Brown, who did not run at the Midwest Regional meet a week ago, was the next Cardinal & Gold-clad runner across the finish line, placing 128th in 20:57.5.
Freshman Branna MacDougall was Iowa State's third finisher on the day in just the third collegiate race of her career. The newcomer from Kingston, Ontario, finished 152nd in 21:04.4. Senior Perez Rotich, the 2015 Big 12 Champion, placed 190th in her final collegiate race, clocking a time of 21:23.0.
Erin Hooker rounded out the Iowa State scoring effort on the day, finishing in 203rd with a time of 21:31.3. Sophomore Evelyne Guay finished 223rd in 22:00.3, followed closely by Kelly Naumann in 232nd with time of 22:15.7.

The 2016 NCAA Cross Country season is now over, and the Cyclones will begin preparing for the 2017 Indoor Track & Field season, which is set to kick-off on Saturday, Jan. 14 at the Hawkeye Challenge in Iowa City.
