Cyclones Win Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wis. – The Iowa State men's golf team claimed the Badger Invitational this afternoon after firing a final-round 278 (-10) for a 54-hole 852 (12-under) tally. The Cyclones (286-288-278=852) finished 10 strokes ahead of second-place Nevada (292-285-285=862) en route to their third tournament title in their last five outings.

Iowa State's final round was solid, going 10-under with rounds of 67 (Ruben Sondjaja), 69 (Sam Vincent), 70 (Denzel Ieremia), 72 (Nick Voke) and 72 (Tripp Kinney).

Ieremia (71-71-70=212) was the low finisher for the Cyclones in 7th place. He was under par in each of his rounds en route to his third career top-10 finish.

Voke (T8) also finished in the top-10 for the 15th time in his career (70-72-72=214). He tallied 13 birdies in the tournament, the most on the team.

Sondjaja posted a stellar final-round 67 to help him finish 11th (77-71-67=215). It was his 10th career round in the 60s and the low 18-hole score in the entire field.

Kinney (T16) was strong in his collegiate debut posting a 217 (71-74-72) which included an eagle in the first round. Vincent (T27), also making his first appearance for the Cyclones, rounded out the scoring with a 221 (74-78-69). Vincent's final round of 69 was the second best 18-hole round for the Cyclones.

The Cyclones will be back on the links Monday September 19th at the Virginia Commonwealth Shootout in Richmond, Va.
