AMES, Iowa – Rachel Van Gorp earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after leading Iowa State to the road win at Kansas State and taking a set at No. 15 Kansas last week with her court coverage.
It is her second weekly conference award as she earned Big 12 Rookie of the Week last year. Van Gorp was also named to the 2024 All-Big 12 Rookie team in the postseason awards.
The sophomore libero deepens Iowa State's success in the award as Van Gorp becomes the 17th player and totals the 66th total Defensive Player of the Week honor in program history. The league's next-highest total is 31.
Returning to her home state, Van Gorp had a career-high 30 digs at K-State, totaling a team season set best of eight digs in the first and fourth set alone. She then followed that up with 18 at No. 15 Kansas as she averaged 5.33 per set through the week to lead the Big 12.
