Cyclones Finish In Ninth At The Stanford Intercollegiate

PALO ALTO, Calif.- In an absolutely loaded field, the Iowa State women's golf team finished ninth over the weekend at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Of the 19 teams in the field, 15 were ranked in the Top 40 in the nation. Iowa State tied with No. 6 Texas, while finishing ahead of No. 11 Northwestern, NO. 12 Oklahoma State and No. 23 Tennessee.Â
Iowa State ended 11-over after their three rounds, shooting eight-over in the final round. The Cyclones stayed consistent in the middle of the pack for the tournament. With this being the last tournament of the fall season for the Cyclones, Iowa State finished all of their events in the top 10 during the fall.
Pammy Chookaew took the Cyclones' top spot, finishing off in a tie for 25th after shooting five-over in her final round. Chookaew ended even par after three rounds with three birdies snagged in her final round. Nichakorn Pinprayoon ended her tournament off shooting two-over in her final round, placing her in a tie for 37th with a total score of four-over. Pinprayoon also grabbed three birdies in her final round.
Alexandra Vidal finished in a tie for 46th after shooting two-over, totaling her three-round score to a plus-five. Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn also shot two-over in her final round, totaling her three-round score to seven-over and placing her in a tie for 53rd. Isabella Yan rounded out Iowa State, shooting a popular two-over final round. This put Yan's total at seven-over, placing her in a tie for 53rd.Â
Stanford stayed at the top, winning the Stanford Intercollegiate as a team, shooting 35-under. Megha Ganne from Stanford took the gold individually with a three-round total of 10-under.
Iowa State will open the spring portion of the schedule Feb. 1-3 at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R.
